Departure

This painting  was created over several months. An initial version had a slumped female figure on the left. Several months later I returned to the canvas one afternoon and it came together spontaneously, without me having a plan. Once done I felt quite astonished this strange scene had arrived! I called the painting ‘Departure’ to capture its quality of dynamic movement.
